The (concentrated) paste coloring is what's staining your teeth, etc.
And while you used too much, it's not harmful.

Princess cake & cookie flavoring has a nut component. (Otherwise, it's pretty similar to Creme Bouquet.)
I used Wilton's b/c recipes for many years. But I find the hi-ratio recipes are more stable ... |

I don't think frying shortening would work satisfactorily for b/c.
(For one thing, it won't have the emulsifiers and stabilizers that make hi-ratio able to absorb more liquid than regular shorte ... |
