When I did mine, I learned the hard way that you must insert the toothpicks/skewers at the proper angle. Make sure to hold it up and visualize how it attaches so the picks give enough support.

It's the number assigned to a particular tip. It has lots of holes in it and you pull away from the cake as you pipe to create the grass/fur. HTH

I think if you fix the shape of the eyes it will really look like a care bear. The eyes are oval on the examples.
