| just fix the stick to the back with some melted chocolate it should be just fine. |

I put the sticks in before baking.
It really comes down to no right or wrong way it is the way that works for you that makes it right or wrong. |

I add a tablespoon of cognac to mu buttercream icing to help cut the sweetness. Before investing in a large bottle (cause it is expensive) i bought a little sample bottle to give it a whirl.

| you could try refrigerating/freezing your cut outs before baking should help with the spreading, but of course this is from someone who hasn't made that recipe. |

Well, If you are taking a while to mold your figures, i would switch to a 50/50 mix of gumpaste and fondant, it will buy you more time before drying out.
