I know how you feel! I haven't had any trouble with cakes (I haven't done enough to really have any problems) but at my dad's business where I work we get that all the time. We make signs and it's like everybody wants something for nothing. It's like they don't understand that the material and time it takes to make the sign costs money. Hello!!! If it was them they would expect to get paid.
Try to stay calm and breath deep! It'll all be okay!

I don't blame you a bit.
Honestly, I don't think people want to spend big money on kids birthday parties.... it's much better for them to buy a cake at Walmart because the kids really don't care.
A bride and adults however will appreciate a well made, well decorated, great tasting cake. |

I can understand how you feel.
What gets me is that she ordered more cake but didn't expect to be charged for it. It would have been hard for me to hold my tounge on the reply you got from her.
When will people realize that good stuff ain't cheap and cheap stuff ain't good!? |

...argh! Don't quit doing kids cakes...I have run into people like that too...so I've resigned myself to the fact the they either want a cake from me or they don't! period!
Since you said you need a drink...you may want to refer to the thread posted in the lounge titled "Tequila Cookies"..lol! |

Boy do I feel your pain! I took a last minute order a couple of weeks ago for a birthday cake for a woman's husband. She was referred to me by someone who ate one of my cakes at a party. All I could get out of her was that it just needed to be chocoalte...and I had to drag that out of her. Just a small cake. Like an idiot I told her I'd do a small round chocoalte (8" - double layer) with chocolate ganache, a couple of chocolate molded roses and a few fall fondant leaves for $20. She comes to pick up the cake and acted shocked...I asked her if there was something about the cake she didn't like. She said, "Oh no, its beautifu. I guess I just expecting like a larger sheet cake." I thought "not for $20 you're not!" |

I'm sorry you had to deal with a (insert name here). I've only sold a few of my cakes and those were for friends and family. I don't do it for a living, so I haven't had anyone give me grief. I don't know how I'd be able to handle it like you guys can. I'd have to say a comeback.
Antonia,
I hope you really don't stop doing kids' cakes. You are so talented. Someone really appreciative is going to miss out! |

Good for you...U know some people!! I would jsut tell her u cant do the cake...if she's not willing to pay for it tell her that there are plenty of ppl who are willing to pay to have a cake made with your talent...and you dont have to waste your time making a cake for someone who a) is going to be ungrateful b) complains waaay too much and c) obviously seems not to have a problem with frozen mass produced crappy cakes |

I would tell her to go somewhere else....but the cake is for tomorrow at 9am. It's in the fridge right now!
She asked me to have it ready and told me that she is sending someone to pick it up, but to help him pack it in the car because...GET THIS:
"he is somewhat careless."
This gets better and better, eh? |

I had this happen to me one time and you have no idea how hard it was for me not to blurt out
"Are you kidding me with this?"
Also, what is a slab cake? Is it a sheet cake? |
