Since the Mid-Atlantic Cake show is just around the corner, I thought I would make a suggestion for making great pieces.
I'm planning to enter a sculpted cake (my first in competition) and I am going to use "Precious Pets" by Deanna O'Connor (TooMuchCake). She makes cake sculpting look so easy!
For my flowers I bought Michele Foster's DVD, "Bloomin' Garden". I love how she only uses a few tools and shows a simple way to make fantastic flowers! I just hope I can do half as well as she does.
If you're looking for some great information to help you with your competition pieces, these two DVDs are well worth the money.
This is just my opinion, of course.

Thanks for the info. I've been wanting to do a 3D animal cake. I just ordered both DVD's!
