I'm making a replica of my parents-in-law's wedding cake for their 40th wedding anniversary party. Their original cake was red (so chic!) but it has a satin-like sheen to it. I'm not sure if it was buttercream or fondant, but my guess from the grainy photos is buttercream. Is there a way to make an entire buttercream cake look shimmery without hand-painting Lustre Dust all over it? (Mixing the dust into the buttercream before application...)
Will painting it on the whole cake even work?! Newbie here, so please forgive my lame-o questions.
I tried to add this to a different thread, but it wouldn't let me. |

If you are serious about decorating.... invest in an airbursh. It will save you HOURS!
Just mix the luster with alcohol. and make it thin then spray away!
Just for using luster it would be worth it, but you can do soooo much with an airbrush gun |

Now I have an airbrush, but I've heard they sell canned sprays of the pearl Luster Dust and such (check Global Sugar Art). Perhaps that would help you some. |
