What's the low down on refrigeration with store bought frostings. For reasons out of my control I need to fill a cake with a store bought (from the can) cream cheese frosting. Would this be different than a made-from-scratch frosting? I'd really like to not have to refrigerate it.....

I don't know if it's the correct way to do it or not but my sister uses store bought cream cheese icing in the can all the time and doesn't refrigerate it and no one has been sick over it so I guess it's OK. I don't think it's real cream cheese in there anyway so that's probably why you can leave it out.

I would read the label on the can to be sure and go from there.
