Are the donations tax deductible? Laughing

Actually, what is the information needed to add CC to my bank payor page? Any special account number, etc.?

unfortunately it is not deductible since we are not a charity organization.

No special account number. You should be able to just enter in our mailing address. You can find the address in the CONTACT US page.

great results...go US!

--------------

but......

ok....gotta ask....

would it be more cost effective (or will this just make Heath go bald) ... if instead of renting server space, CC bought it's own servers ... (was looking at APPLE.com --- coveting the new iPhone -- when I noticed a new server they're selling starting at $3K. don't know how many of those it would take...but...???)

--------------

just went "shopping"

and for a fully maxed out apple server w/ various kinds of tech support:

Xserve Quad Xeon
2 - 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
ATI Radeon X1300 64MB SDRAM with VGA Adapter
3 - 300GB SAS ADM @ 15,000-rpm
Dual 650W Power Supply
Rack Mounting Kit - Square Hole Rack
Accessory kit
Dual channel 2Gb Fibre Channel card with PCIe riser
8x SuperDrive DL (DVD+R DL/DVD + RW/CD-RW)
32GB (8x4GB)
Dual channel gigabit ethernet card with PCIe riser
$32,270.00

AppleCare Service Parts Kit for Xserve
$999.00

AppleCare Premium Service & Support Plan for Xserve - Auto Enroll
$950.00

Apple Remote Desktop 3 (10 Managed Systems)
$299.00

Mac OS X Server Software Support - Select
$5,995.00

Xserve RAID (14x500GB)
$12,399.00
------------------------------------------------------
Estimated Total: $52,912.00

be still my heart!.....ok...time to try the lottery!

I am actually a really big fan of the Apple xServe servers.

But yeah, the problem is we could buy 4 or 5 of those, spend about $15,000, and then place them in a colocation facility where the bandwidth would run us about the same $1500 a month we spend now, but it would not increase as we add servers, at least not until we got over like 20 servers there.

The downside is that when you lease a server, you can continually have them switch you to newer servers with newer technology, and it doesn't cost extra to switch to a newer machine. IF we invest in owning our servers, then we have to make those machines last as long as possible to justify the cost.

Eventually we will buy our own machines but we are not there yet...

Just think too, when you rent space from a server farm, they have people there certified to work on them if something physically breaks down.
Could you imagine Jackie and Heath having to physically rebuild a server if it went down on them and still do data restores on the server? Shocked They had to spend plenty of man hours as it was to rebuild the data that they had lost when the one they rented went down.
I work in the computer industry so I feel their pain when something breaks on this site and they are the ones fixing it for us, loosing sleep for us, just to keep the site up and running. Thanks Jackie and Heath for all your hard work! Thumbs Up!

Haha, thats actually the one thing I would prefer to do myself. I can build a computer no problem, I do it all the time, and the techs at the server farm screw up our hardware upgrades nearly everytime..
