I went to my local Michaels last night to top up on meringue powder, piping gel, cake boxes and a couple of other bits and pieces. The shelves were bare, not to mention the packed parking lot, checkout lines, etc. I guess folks are making a lot of cakes for Christmas!!

I just have to tell you I miss Michaels SOOOOOO much. In Washington, I was about 30 minutes from the michaels and loved it. Now I live where there is no Michaels on the whole island and the only thing they have here is a hardware store mixed with a ben franklins, they have ONE SHELF of cake decorating stuff and it's an hour away to boot. This island is really cramping my cake decorating dreams.

Yeah, I guess there are positives and negatives everywhere you go. It's been a real bummer in the cake decorating things, but other than that it's pretty great here.
