I am wanting to make a cookie bouquet with chocolate chip cookies rather than the usual sugar cookies. I have had great success with the No Fail sugar cookie recipe, but I am wanting a different cookie with the same overall look.

Is there any way to make shaped chocolate chip cookies? I want to put them on sticks and ice them (w/ royal icing) just as I normally would the sugar cookies.

Any ideas, tips, recipes??? I don't know if I can just use my normal recipe and roll it out some how and use cookie cutters or what.

Thanks so much for your help!

You can use the treat pans that are already shaped, but I have had some success pressing the dough into the cutter shape rather than trying to cut the dough. Choc chip is usually too wet and sticky for moving after it is cut. I tested one pressing in into the cutter, then weighed the dough, then measured out dough balls - just so they would all be the same.

It is messy and not as quick as cutters, but it can work. They do melt more than the no-fail dough, so intricate shapes don't come out too well.

I finally just decided the choc chip would be round and life got easier.

Thank you for your help. I might give it a try, but now that you mention it, it just might be so much easier if I keep them round.

Thanks!

I have a recipe for cut-out chocolate chip cookies which has the mini chocolate chips in it. They don't taste exactly like your round choc chip cookie, but they are delicious. The dough is stiffer and makes a crisper cookie.

I have made these. I think they taste great but, one dd HATES them and the other DD will eat the whole bunch! Give them a try before you make them to give away so you can see how they taste for yourself. The don't taste like CCC.
