Not a disaster but a rant.

WHY do they make 10x14 boards and boxes for 9x13 cakes???? Mad It gives you NO ROOM to do a border without messing it up in the box!!!

I am so stupid I always forget this problem. I just make a cake for my daughter's Princess birthday that was 9x13, and it barely fit the board. I am going to have to remember to trim an inch off two of the sides in the future so it fits the board better.

It's just so annoying! Do you guys trim the cake to fit?

OK, I'm done ranting now ... Smile

Its been awhile since I did a 9x13 but I think I always used an 11x15 board and box. Smile

Well I made it on a 9x13 board and then put in on the 11x15 covered with contact paper and then applied border!!

I know what ya mean! I like to have a 2" space around my cake for borders and handling room, but that ain't happenin' with a 10x14 board. Thumbs Down

It's even worse trying to find boards and boxes for half sheets. At least with a 9x13, we have 11x15 boards (which fit into half sheet boxes), but all the bakery supply places I've ever looked at only offer 13x19 boards and boxes for half sheets (12x18). Mad Not cool! Thumbs Down

(Edited for spelling...tried to talk slang but can't spell it very well; guess I'm destined for proper English lol )

I can't find 11x15 boards and boxes though. Any suggestions?

Here is where I get 11x15 boards: http://www.countrykitchensa.co.....ductId=886

I usually go up to the next box size (the half sheet size); I've never found 11x15 boxes, but I also haven't tried very hard Rolling Eyes . I forgot Wilton sells 14x20 boards for half sheets, but they're the scalloped edged ones that don't wrap well. 14x20 still isn't big enough for my liking though, but it gives an inch all the way around a half sheet (like the 11x15 does for a quarter sheet).

A while back, I ordered a case of 1/4 sheet boards (100), but they didn't specify that they are actually a bit smaller than 10x14! That makes if even worse when doing a 9x13 cake.

If you dont mind buying 100 boxes, this company has every box size you can image:

and [blocked] sells the 10x14 boards...and 10x14 boxes.

I cut my board to 11x15 and use the 19x14 box...no problem with messing up the borders...plenty of room left.
