I'm trying to write up a standard contract for wedding cakes and I'm wondering how much do you guys charge if a bride cancels the cake? Also how far in advance must one cancel by?

For me it depends on circumstance of why cake is being cancelled. But my contract states 50% non-refundable policy. 2 weeks out from the date if I purchased any materials for said cake that amount will be taken out in addition to the 50%. But I do offer receipts (I have only had to do that once) Most people cancel because the wedding is called off. So like I said depends on circumstances. I had a client who had a wedding planned for Nov 2006 and in Oct 2005 they broke up. I refunded all the money because I could still book the date. Hope that helps
