I have been wanting one for a long time, but my current Hamilton beach stand mixer works fine. It's about 10 years old, never had any trouble with it. Just really want the KA, but DH won't agree, and I really cant' justify buying one until the existing one dies. So, funny thing...I had it out this weekend sitting on the counter, and DH knocks it off. Crashes to the floor and breaks. He mutters a few obscenities, then lloks at me and grins--" I guess you're getting your wish"

Now, I see a new thread today about mixers, and I'm torn.

I received a stand mixer, it was a hamilton beach or something bought from walmart last year for xmas, I received it early since I have an annual cookie party for all my girlfriends every year, first use, it ground to a halt, and I was doing something simple, needless to say...that's how I was monsterized into the kitchen aid world....and I'm so happy to say that.

I have it on every day, not a day goes by that it is not used, and my step son has his stool from the bathroom he uses to brush his teeth (he's 3) and he stands on it and asks to lick the beater everytime it's on. LOL

I have the industrial 6qt instead of the standard, standard is too small and even then sometimes mine seems too small for some orders I need to fill, but I LOVE IT and won't trade it for the world unless I have an industrial kitchen of my own! Congrats again!

Funny how wishes come try. Glad you did not have anything in their.

I love my kitchen aid pro. I have seen the thread you are talking about, I am sure you will come to the right decision on which brand to buy. Do some research and check reviews online. If you go the google search box type in (mixer brand reviews) you will get some answers that way.

If you can live with Empire Green, the weekly special at the Kitchen Aid outlet store- see ad at right- has a 6 quart on sale for $249.

I just got my 6qt KA not long ago as well, and laugh at how I was doing things before without it!! I bought it refurbished at kitchenaid.com, and it only comes w/ a 6 mos. warranty (normal is 1 year), but as much as I use it, I figure that's long enough to see if it's ok or not. It was $239.00, which is less than 1/2 of normal.

I was actually playing around on the ka site and any of the colors of that 6qt model are $249, NOT just the green (as I thought at first too!). Congrats on getting a KA, I love mine!! I have the pro 5 plus and would hate to see the day that I had to do without it!

Actually, I believe it comes in a variety of 5 colors for the 249.00. Empire Red, empire green, imperial grey, majestic yellow and pistachio green.
I really like the empire green and with free shipping it may be worth getting a second one. Hmmmmm. Why oh why did this thread have to come up!!!!! Laughing Rolling Eyes

I ended up getting the 5 Qt. artisan for $199.00 at Linen's N Things. I had the 20% coupon, and they had neglected to take a big sign down from a previous rebate offer, so the manager just took the value of the mail in rebate right off the price! Way cool! Only problem is, when I opened it, there is a small scratch on the top, so i need to exchange it. I can't wait to use it! Very Happy Very Happy
