I'm making a fondant lighthouse and there are three windows down the front - approx 1/2 inch square each.

I want to put a little piece of clear something behind them to resemble window glass...

any suggestions on what I can do besides making a full batch of hard candy and spending big $$$ on supplies? (the only real supply I have is a candy thermometer for making caramel)

Can I melt down a jolly rancher? or can I use just sugar?

any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I've melted Life Savers for stained glass so you should be able to melt a Jolly Rancher. Put a piece of aluminum foil on a cookie sheet and spray with pam or rub with vegetable oil. Crush your candy into small pieces. Place on cookie sheet and put into a hot oven until it melts.

I used crushed Jolly Ranchers in the windows of my gingerbread houses last year and they turned out fine. of course - we didn't eat them, but I am sure they would taste great because...jolly ranchers ROCK, right? Very Happy

Gelatin sheets work, too, if you can find them.
