Very Happy Our parents have decided several months ago, that dh and I NEEDED a 25th Wedding Anniversary party...we decided on a informal pig picking with all the trimmings...that much is taken care of.

Being a baker, dh and I are making our own anniversary cake......yeah, go ahead and laugh! Our moms are mortified..they said, YOU should not have to make YOUR OWN CAKE! Shocked Confused Crying or Very sad We insisted.....so that is decided too. Thumbs Up!

I was thinking of also using my chocolate fountain, along with some cookies, pretzels, and various fruits....all for dipping. My question is how many bags of chocolate discs do I need to insure enough chocolate to flow for about 150 guests? Thanks!

I have 5 fountains and use them at weddings all time. I buy my chocolate in 25 lb boxes and can get 2-3 weddings from one box, depending on headcount.

Ironically, the reason chocolate fountains are so profitable is because people don't eat much with them.
- It takes some work and time to put your foods on a skewer, run them thru the chocolate, get it on your plate without making a mess. People won't stand there forever to get a plateful of chocolate fountain stuff, like they will to get a plateful of veggies and meatballs on an appetizer table.
- Chocolate is pretty rich and people don't WANT as much of this as they would other regular foods.

I use two fountains at a weddings so if you divide the 25 lb box into 3 weddings, I use an avg of 8 lbs for 2 fountains per wedding. So if you're just using one, I'd say you'd be WAY safe with about 5-8 lbs of chocolate.

I made a cake for me once and people had the same reaction. I said, "So you think it's better for me to be forced to eat someone else's crappy cake, when I'm used to the best that is made by me?" (HMMMMMM?????) Rolling Eyes
