I need to create a cake for a woman whose hubby and daughter both fought cancer and are now in remission. Her community has shown great support and she wants the cake to represent a new beginning. Does anyone have any ideas???? I am totally lost with this one.
Thanks so much in advance for your time. |

How about a tree covered with little pick survivor ribbons. |

How about a sunrise? Maybe in the background behind the tree with the pink ribbons. |

I'm kinda thinking about a waterfall or a creek, with butterflies on a couple of large rocks/boulders. The butterflies would be pretty and feminine, counterbalanced by the more masculine, woodsy scene.
The water represents a cleansing, the rocks represent strength, and butterflies represent new life.
One thought about pink ribbons is they represent breast cancer, which usually strikes women, so that kinda leaves the dad "left out" in the design. imho. |

I saw a book cake in the gallery. Think it was for a wedding, but could be modified to suit. "Starting a new chapter" was the theme.

. . . to me butterflies and dragonflies represent new beginnings . . . due to the metamorphosis (even though dragonflies are incomplete metamorphosis) . . . a phoenix rising from the ashes could have some interesting possibilities . . . a lotus flower can represent a hard time that you have come through (struggles up through the muck and the mire, find it's way to the light, and then gives back with it's beauty) . . . just afew idea starters . . . |
