can i msg the offender's name to u? LOL |
Well the rules are posted in bold type EVERYTIME you upload a photo, you see them. We've tried everything, even with this thread on the front page, people are uploading duplicates every day. It makes me scratch my head.
And yes, please PM me about galleries full of duplicates. I'm working on them as I find them but it's nice to have help. |

I wanted to address another subject that has come up and see what you think. Here is an example.
I have made more Dora the Explorer cakes than I care to admit out of the Wilton pan. They all basically looked the same, since (let's face it), Dora never changes her clothes. I've never posted pictures of them here and probably never will (boy, I'm tired of seeing Dora...her EYES...they give me a headache... )
Does anyone see any purpose in my posting all the Dora cakes? If I posted, I think I should post just the best picture I have or the best one I did. I see no point in posting all of them.
This subject has come up a couple of times in the course of cleaning the galleries. Just thought it might be something you guys want to consider when uploading your own photos or comment on. |

I probably would not upload another tractor made with the wilton pan since I have one on already, and yet I am glad that I uploaded the one I did since a couple of people told me they liked what I did with chocolate letters and they had not thought to do that. However it was handy to have several of the wilton mcqueen pan cakes to look at when I was icing mine.
I think what we have to remember is that if that wilton Dora is the first or best cake you have made at that point... you are going to post it because you are proud of what you have accomplished! You also hope that maybe someday, somehow, something about it will help and/or inspire someone else...... |

I have to admit, I had uploaded duplicate photo's before b/c I'll be honest, I didn't read the terms entirely. I've deleted all my duplicates a while back, created collages (where needed) and replaced my original photo (after reading this thread). Yeah, I lost some favorites and comments, but I'd rather follow the rules than have a ton of people annoyed or PO'd at me.
Now I love doing collages and they are so easy and no more uploading duplicate photos...I do them in MS Powerpoint since I'm too lazy to go downstairs and use PS on my desktop. I insert my photo's into a powerpoint slide, arrange them how I like them, add some comments (sometimes), group them together, right click, click on "Save Picture As" and then you are all done! Just make sure the file type is JPG. Have fun! No special software needed.
And sorry I was one of those people that didn't read the terms more closely and had some duplicate photos. |

I just deleted mine one at a time....I didn't see an easier way to do a bunch at a time, but then again, I only had 2 duplicates. I ended up consolidated my cupcake photo's into one so I had 3 more to delete. It was a snap....didn't take long at all by deleting one at a time. |

You have to do them one at a time. Sorry, but there isn't an easier way. |

I'm hoping that a lot of people are still keeping up with this thread. I'd like to add something.
It would be really great if everyone would give details when uploading cake pictures. Many pictures are uploaded with no description at all and some with very little description.
I love looking at all the new cakes and am not only doing my job but having fun browsing the galleries. BUT it makes me crazy when I see a cake that I like and wonder how they did something or what something is made of and it is not in the description.
SO, I'd like to encourage everyone to describe your cakes, tell a little about how you did details and what things are made of. I'm sure everyone would appreciate it. |

I have no problem having a "duplicate" removed, but please at least pay attention to which picture you are removing before you do it....at least read the captions first. |

We have had this thread posted for weeks now in an effort to encourage everyone to clean their own galleries so we won't have to make the decisions for you.
When deleting photos I try to keep the one with the most favorites or in the case of the same number of favorites, I try to keep the picture that shows off more of the cake or is the better picture. I can't read every description or comment especially on galleries that have lots and lots of duplicates. People, I've cleaned galleries with 5 pictures of each cake, no kidding!!
I realize that I can't make everyone happy but please do not fuss at me because you uploaded duplicates and have not cleaned up your own gallery. If only everyone would read the rules to start with then I would not be so unpopular. |

No one is "fussing", and I think you're doing a great job...only asking for you to be more careful...
And by the way...I "cleaned up" my gallery quite some time ago...thanks...
I know you don't have an easy job here, but don't go jumping down our throats for making a very reasonable request. |

I reread my post and do not see any "throat jumping" going on. I'm sorry you feel the way you do but like I said before, I can't make everyone happy and I understand that. |

It would be great if we could post our one photo in up to 3 catergories because sometimes, it's really hard to choose a catergory. |

Duplicate as defined in the dictionary is as follows:
"Identically copied from the original"
I opened my gallery today to find that I have lost pictures of a shower cake with tons of comments and helpful hints and advise from other's as well as my own to answer questions from other CC'ers...NONE OF WHICH WERE DUPLICATES!!!!
They may have been on the same cake subject, but none were duplicates!!
Kathy.....you are ruining our forums with your thoughtless and discompassionate tactics...before you remove another picture from anyone elses gallery, you need to send out a PM to the person or persons that you think may have a duplicate and make sure that you are ok to do so in the first place.
I have chosen not to PM you about this because of your callus and "devil may care" attitude about other peoples alike thoughts on the same subject. You wouldn't like it if someone acted that way with you, so don't presume that it is ok for you do it to anyone else.
My pictures are now lost to my gallery, and I can never retreive the nice comments or helpful advise that I have often referred back to in doing other projects. Also, I've had several people ask me what happened to the progression shots of that cake that they were looking for it making one themselves to see how it was put together....shame on you......... |
