I know everyone would love to hear how the donations went in the first month.
I am happy to tell you that the CC community stepped up and did very well
Total Donators : 321
Total Donations: $2217.21
I have not deducted paypal fees from that total yet.
So what does this mean for Cake Central? Well IF we can maintain at least this level of donations, it means we can add another server to the mix.
Lets monitor this for one more month and see how it goes, if we can do a repeat then we will feel better about adding another monthly server bill to the mix |

Hugh,
You motivated/reminded me to go and donate! Sorry for the delay, but I have added my donation for the February total! I couldn't make it without this site! |

That is good news. It motivates for more donations. You all do a great job of running this site and I know people love it. It truely is addictive. |

Pay Pal fees? - would it be better just to send future donations thru the mail? Or I wonder if I could set it up on my online banking and just send one when paying monthly bills? |

Certainly you could. However for alot of people the convenience of using paypal is a major reason the donation gets made.
Also some people include it with their Store order, and so it may end up on paypal or even on a credit card.
Some people have made their donations via regular mail and that is totally great. Unfortunately I don't think we would have received nearly this amount of donations without using paypal. Its all about convenience. |

Thank you for the up date. Us "normal" people out here have no idea the cost of a server, how about some info along those lines, rent? up-keep? What really goes into getting and using a server? Not a long involved report just a quick overview, would be very informative and may induce others to donate, too. |

Servers are leased from a datacenter in Texas. Server's vary in cost depending on configuration, but the servers it takes to run CC cost about $300-$500 per month EACH. We currently have 4 servers. Our current total server cost is a bit over $1600/month. At the rate CC is growing, we will probably need 2-3 new servers in 2007. |

Thank you, it certainly is expensive to maintain a web site. Gives me new respect for the problems and the people trying to keep everything up and running. Send in those donations, Please! Those of us that are addictive need their fixes daily! |
