I picked up Pastry Pride at Smart and Final. It's light and fluffy as promised, and not as sweet as buttercream. It works great for filling, but can I ice a cake with it? Pipe with it? Will it take color? Make roses?

It just seems so soft, I can't imagine it will work. Your success stories would help me!

Thanks in advance - Newbie

Sorry, I've never seen Pastry Pride so I can't answer your question but hopefully another member will see this and respond!

Is it too pricey for you to try? I don't know anything about it. Maybe color a little and see if it will work.

Hey Newbie,

Jscakes uses Pastry Pride on most of her cakes. She ices the cake & also pipes with it. She told me she's never done roses with it though. You should PM her & ask her more about it. She loves Pastry Pride. Swears by it! I've been looking for it here in Louisiana but I can't find it. She's in Washington State so it might be a Northwest thing. I'd love to find it here!!

PM her~

hi not sure if this is to late but i have used pastry pride yes you can ice and make borders with check your smart and final and see if they carry the frosting pride its a few cents more but it decorates much better and tastes the same it also takes color on alittle better because of the fat content on it. frosting pride was made in the begining for decorating wedding cakes.

Hi Newbie, Before I joined CC Pastry pride was all I
used,You can do just about aything with it that you can do with bc. I can't make roses with it but a friend of mine can! they look so soft and delicate , She just adds powdered sugar to stiffen it enough to hold the form.

Thank you Gracie and Maxiecakes! I'm back to Smart and Final today, and will pick up both and try them. I appreciate your responses!
