I am new to charging people for my cakes. I got an order from my landlord for a birthday cake for his mom, who is 83 and in the last stages of Altimizers.. how ever its spelled. He was having a fund raiser for her cause. So, he told me a cake for 100 people. The cake I made is below, covered in fondant and the side is 14, 10 , 8. filled with buttercream , almond butter cream and raspberry buttercream. What does this serve and what is a fair price?.... I am so buying that cakeboss!!! |

Serving sizes are listed on the WIlton site. I think their servings are a little bit small.

14, 10, 8 would be 110 servings. Pricing is not my strong point but if it were a buttercream wedding cake, i would charge about $150...a little on the cheap side but that's me and if it were buttercream. Since its fondant make charge $200. |

110 servings for that cake is party size slices, not small at all. You could call around your area to get an idea of what the going rate is for a cake like that. I would say around 325-350. Very pretty cake! |

I charge $3.00 for fondant and $2.50 for buttercream in my area, which is the mid range (more experienced, longer in business can charge more -- but I know I'm more talented than some local homebakers who's sites I've seen) so if it were 110 servings, they be paying $330 for fondant, and $275 for buttercream.
very pretty cake, btw |
