This is the first time I have ever baked a 12 X 18 cake!!! I am watching it in the oven right now with fingers crossed!!!! I am using one of the recipes for "enhanced cake" from this website and I bought a baking core this afternoon.
So cross your fingers and wish me luck!!! |

I always have trouble with the center not getting done enough but found that if when I think it is done and it tests done I shut off the oven and open the oven door and let it sit in there for 10 more minutes. Then take out and totally cool before touching again.

It worked out perfectly!!! The recipe was soooo easy to work with and the cake is nice and level. I can only assume that the heating core really helped! The edges are not overdone at all!!! Two more to go!!! |
