I am registered for the Carolina Cake Show and I'm very excited! I have a question: Will I need to stay there all day? I know I have to be set up by 9:30 but if my family wants to leave by, say, 4pm, will I be disqualified for any awards? Thanks for helping clear this up for me. |

Hi, Rachel! We're looking forward to having you at the cake show - it's going to be so much fun!
As to leaving early, you are welcome to come and go as you please. Just be aware of a couple of things: our awards ceremony (where the winners will be announced and the ribbons and prizes handed out) will be at approx. 6pm at Center Court. You do not have to be there to receive your ribbon; we'll contact you after the show to get it to you. BUT, there will also be a raffle for prizes that all entrants are entered in; you must be present if your name is called to pick up your prize or we'll call another name.
Finally, picking up cake entries will be held from 8pm-9pm and if your cake is not picked up during that time, it will be disposed of by the mall. So you can leave and come back as you wish during the day and evening; just make sure you're there in case you win something and to pick up your beautiful entry at closing time! Let me know if you've got any other questions. |

Oh man! I just joined the website today and saw the contest in Charlotte... I missed the deadline by three days!! I'm new to cake decorating and absolutely love doing it. I would have loved to enter this contest just for fun. I live in Wilmington and was very excited to see a contest in our area. Do you know of any other contests? |

I can't wait to check out all of the cakes this weekend! Thanks for the information! I'm going to look into the other contests as well.
I loved UNCW! I went there for undergrad and moved straight back here after grad school. |

Haven't been able to find an actual address for the Cake Show. Not being from that area, I need to google!
Thanks! Can't wait to see all the creativity! |

I live about an hour away and I am going to see all the beautiful cakes although I am not entering one. This will be my first time going and I have a brand new digital camera ready to go, it is going to be smoking that day with all the pictures I take, lol. Will they be selling cake decorating items there also? If so I need to get some money ready, lol. |

I would enter a cake but I have never been to the show and Im not sure what to expect. My husband is trying to talk me into entering, so I may email and see if they can fit me in since the deadline has passed.
I originally was going to enter but the 20th is my husband and I anniversary and I wasnt sure if we would even be going to the show but I have talked him into going and he says I should enter so I will try if they still have room left.
What catergory is everyone going to enter? Do you have your own separate table for your cake to sit on and do you have to decorate the table with table cloths etc? Like I said I have never been or enter so Im not sure what to expect. |

Sonya-
They have long tables set up and you just sit your cake on it beside another cake. I think you have a 24 square inch spot for your cake. The cakes are set up in different areas in the mall. I am entering in the beginner non-tiered special occasions category. |

Thank you for the info turtle! I contacted them and they are able to squeeze me in so I will be entering the buttercream wedding cake category. I know I wont win anything since it being my first time at a show but it will give me practice So since there are long tables do we need to bring a tablecloth for our area? Thanks again for the info! |
