I am new here and new to cake decorating. I want to take a Wilton's course, but I am not artistic (drawing, etc.) at all! Have you ever known of anyone who takes the course but just can't do it? I have the desire, but I'm not sure that I have the ability. What's your opinion?

If you have the desire, you'll have the ability... I've had so many students come in doubting themselves and leave amazed at what they learned and were able to accomplish .. take the courses; you won't regret it and welcome to CakeCentral .. we're glad to have you here with us |

Heatherly30, I wasn't sure how well I would do in the Wilton courses, either, but I had wanted to learn for so long.....I just went for it!
I had a blast. The thing is, they teach you everything you need to know. The rest is up to you. If you've never tried, you'll never know what you can do.
Our class was so much fun, lots of laughter, jokes and learning.
BTW....I don't consider myself artistic, either ;P
Just sign up, go take the classes, have some fun, and learn the basics. Whether you're artistic or not doesn't matter, but I bet you'll find an artistic streak deep down that you didn't know about.

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I can barely draw a good stick figure. The cool thing about cake decorating is you don't have to draw or be incredible artistic. Sure if you are it can help you, but it doesn't mean you have to be to do great cakes.
Take the classes! Have fun with it! Don't stress over it. |

I definitely dont think having artistic ability in the area of drawing and such determines your ability to decorate cakes. I do think some people have a knack for it, and some dont...just like any hobby or skill. Hey, it doesnt cost a lot to get started and you wont know unless you give it a shot. I think you will know pretty early on if you have talent in that area! |

I LOVED the wilton courses! I took all three classes, I just finished in December and it was soooo fun! They are actually having a course 4 now in February where I live, which i will most likely be taking. I would really recommend it, especially if you don't have anything else to do! Dont worry about being artistic because i am the worst drawer in the world... It's fun because you can put your own style into things... You should really take the classes!!!! |

I have absolutely no artistic or crafty ability at all. I took all 3 classes. I am no where near as great as some people, but it's amazing what you can do with a little help and having someone show you how to do it. |
